Rainbow Rose

These neon  rainbow roses are real roses whether you believe it or not, and are dyed to attain their multi-colored appearance. They are the latest brainwave of Dutch flower grower Peter Van de Werken, The rose petals on these roses have taken on this rainbow aspect by a process known in the flower trade as stem dying, not a new technique by any means, a technique that has been around since the Victorian era. An established florist's trick to get such flowers as chrysanthemums and carnations and then a little later roses to absorb colors via placing their stems in varying colored dyes hence blue roses .You can try this at home with food coloring. What differs here is the number of different colors of dye absorbed by each rose blossom and that a professional floral dye is used .Usually using a white rose since they accept color the best, the roses stem is cut into several portions each and is placed into a different colored ink or dye. Each stem section then delivers that color to the rose petals to which it is directly attached, just like you would suck a drink through a straw, and voila! Now you have a rainbow rose.
